The Excellent Tour Guide Made It Enjoyable

Our guide, Alfredo, turned a routine bus and walking tour into an excellent experience. The tour was in Spanish and English. Instead of going through the whole spiel in one language then the other, Alfredo would give a sentence in one language then in the other. It kept people from "tuning out". His knowledge of history and culture greatly added to the tour. Now the bad: The meeting point was a disorganized mess with people going on different buses and tours. As instructed, we there by 8:50 for the 9AM tour. The bus didn't actually get there till 9:27. I was regretting booking this tour until Alfredo did such a terrific job that I would now recommend it.

Great way to see two places in one day

My guide Angy was very knowledgeable in giving introduction to each sight, and leave us enough time to explore each town. The time is great, balanced between guided walk and free walk.

Great Guide but Typical Bus Tour

Know what you're getting into - a large bus with lots of people. You will be on the bus a long time. On the one hand this is bad but can't be helped considering distance between locations. On the other hand, you get to see a lot of the countryside, which is good. Our guide, Marta, was fabulous. She gave a great overview of each city in both Spanish and English (alternating between both). Next time I would skip the lunch, not because it was bad, but because you don't have enough time in Segovia. Avila was very very rushed. Would have preferred to have an extra hour in each town. Overall, a good introduction to each location and would recommend as long as you went in with the right expectations.

Fantastic trip to two beautiful cities

We loved this tour. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and helpful. Take negative reviews with a grain of salt. There were people on our tour that did not pay attention and consequently missed out on some things. This was entirely due to the tourists, not the guide.

Not worth it

There's nothing you get from this tour that you can't easily do yourself with a train ticket and a good guidebook. Also, entry fees to the Castle and the Cathedral are NOT included, and the guide incorrectly suggested we couldn't get in. (We did on our own.) The constant switching back-and-forth between Spanish and English in the middle of descriptions of sites was annoying. Other things you may not expect--no bathrooms or eating on the bus--take care of that before you get on. Positives--the bus is very nice otherwise and the staff is friendly. But we were disappointed.
