The Hofburg (English: Imperial Palace) is a former Habsburg palace in Innsbruck, Austria, and is considered one of the three most significant cultural buildings in the country, along with the Hofburg Palace and Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna.

Maria Theresa Road (Maria-Theresien-Strasse 18, 6020 Innsbruck, Austria)
Maria Theresa Road (Maria-Theresien-Strasse 18, 6020 Innsbruck, Austria)

It was the sacred duty of the people of Innsbruck to name one of the main streets after the reforming empress, because Maria Theresia did so much to beautify the city with delightful buildings and a baroque park.
If you walk along Herzog-Friedrich-Strasse from the Golden Roof House without turning anywhere, you'll find yourself right on Maria Theresia Street. The most notable structure here is the St. Anne's Column in the center, and the street ends with the famous Arc de Triomphe, sad on one façade and joyful on the other.

The "star" of the Old Town and of Innsbruck is the Golden Roof (in German Goldenes Dachl). The Golden Roof is basically a three-story balcony of the house of Archduke Frederick IV, built in the early 15th century as the residence of the Tyrolean sovereigns in the central square in the heart of the Old Town. In 1500, it was decorated with 2,657 tiles of gilded copper for Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor, as a royal lodge.
