You can not understand Valencia in the 21st century without visiting the south side of old way of Turia river. Here we visit outdoors the main buildings of the cultural and multiuses complex of Valencian architect, engineer and artist Santiago Calatrava:
Our first stop is the Science Museum “Principe Felipe”. Opened in November 2000. It was the biggest science museum in Europe and it is still one of the best in its area.
Close to it, the 3-D Cinema “l’Hemisferic”is waiting for us since April 1998. When we go into the middle dome, it offers a wide variety of spectacular movies about science, nature, archeology, space, galaxies and all kind of incredible stories.
Time for classical music and extraordinary architecture in an impossible building: the Opera House (October 2005)“Palau de les Arts Queen Sofia”. Is it a vertical building? Is it an horizontal one? Was it easy to build? What does it look like?
The City of Arts and Sciences has also a place for nature, gardens, fresh air, mediterranean vegetation: the winter garden “l’Umbracle”.
Although it was not created by Santiago Calatrava, the Aquarium “l’Oceanografic” is worth a visit. Animals from the seas all over the world can be visited here. We just visit the main entrance. Enjoy this tour with us.
