Armenian monastery of the X century in the Vayots Dzor region of Armenia, along the Vayk-Jermuk road, in the canyon of the Arpa River. Gndevank Monastery, built in 936, is one of the oldest monasteries preserved in Armenia. The temple, surrounded by a fortress wall, was erected on the initiative of Princess Sophia and in medieval times was considered one of the cultural centers of Armenia.
The Jermuk Waterfall (arm. Ջերմուկի ջրվեժ) is the second highest waterfall in Armenia, inferior to the Kasakh waterfall. The height of the waterfall is 68 meters, located in the Vayots Dzor marz. There are several hundred such sources on the territory of the Armenian Highlands, especially in the Caucasian part of it. Often these are entire complexes, and one of them is Jermuksky, located at absolute heights of 1700-2200 meters.
