Guided tour through the most important monument of Santiago de Compostela.
The tour of Santiago de Compostela’s Museum and Cathedral is based on the Cathedral’s history and the Apostle’s tomb. Nucleus of the entire city with the same name. During the visit you will see how the Cathedral evolved through the centuries and learn of how important the discovery of Santiago’s tomb was and how it affected all of Europe in the Middle Ages.
The first part of the visit begins at the Cathedral’s Museum, where its four floors are visited in ascending order. The first floor stands out for its archaeological rooms, the second floor covers the library and the Chapter Hall, on the third floor you access the balcony, the cloister and the cemetery. On the last floor we will see the entire collection of the Cathedral’s priceless tapestries.
Afterwards the second part of the tour begins, accessing the interior of the Cathedral. We will talk about The Pórtico de la Gloria and we will tour the Cathedral’s transepts. On the way we will see the many inner chapels, the Botafumeiro, the Baroque organs, the Apostle’s crypt and fulfill the traditional of embracing the Saint. Enjoy this city with us.
